Celebrating 10 years of Kontor

As Kontor marks its 10th anniversary, we reflect on a decade of growth, challenges, and remarkable achievements. Founded with a clear vision to deliver exceptional office space solutions, Kontor has transformed from a small start-up into a global player, supporting clients across the world with tailored office space. From our early days as a small London start-up to becoming a trusted name in commercial real estate, it’s been a decade of ambition, resilience, and growth. We sat down with JT, our Founder and CEO, to reflect on Kontor’s journey, challenges, and the moments that made the last decade remarkable.

Reflecting on Kontor’s journey, JT describes how rewarding it is to reach this milestone. “After 10 years of kind of chasing around, making a name for ourselves, trying to do a really good job… it’s, yeah, really rewarding.” he says. “What began as a simple setup with “a laptop, mobile phone, and off we go” has evolved into a well-respected company with a passionate and ambitious team. Kontor’s achievements, he notes, are the result of everyone’s hard work and a commitment to deliver the best for clients.

JT’s key lesson over the past decade has been resilience. “We’ve had some pretty challenging times over the last four years” he explains. From adapting to rapid growth to navigating global crises, Kontor has shown that resilience is essential for thriving in a challenging industry. “To sit here after all that, still consistently delivering at the level we are, just shows an element of resilience and ambition.” One of the standout moments in the company's history was our partnership with Monzo. When we started working with them, they were 12 desks in a co-working space, later leading to a 12,000-foot sublet, and on to a big HQ move of over 100,000 sq.ft.with a blue-chip landlord. Our role in Monzo’s expansion highlighted our ability to grow alongside clients, tackling projects of increasing scale and complexity.

JT attributes much of Kontor’s success to its culture and people, emphasising the importance of creating a space where everyone can thrive. “Seeing those individuals grow within the business and the platform that we’ve created has been hugely rewarding,” he says. Kontor’s culture has allowed team members to build successful careers while embracing a healthy work-life balance. “We have a platform that’s slightly more relaxed, slightly more flexible… and I think that’s really respected and not taken for granted.” While there have been challenges along the way, he is proud of our commitment to learning and growing from each experience. “It’s very obvious when something’s not working, but having that conviction to actually get on and change it.” he shares, noting that agility is essential for continued success. 

As Kontor looks toward the future, the focus remains on staying true to the company’s core strengths; office and workspace solutions, and building on the solid foundation established over the past decade.
