Business Development Manager

JOB ROLE

Kontor is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our fast-growing team. You will be the first dedicated BDM, heading up the department, with the ambition to eventually build out an entire team. The ideal candidate is someone who is able to deliver on lead targets and is knowledgeable of the needs of our scaleup and unicorn clients.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will lead B2B client development efforts with new, as well as existing clients by focusing on:

    • Scaleups and unicorns that represent our Best Representative Customers to generate new business

    • Re-activating and monetising existing Best Representative Customers in our database that have previously not completed a transaction with us

  • You will identify, build and manage an active pipeline of relevant opportunities 

  • You will understand and clearly communicate Kontor’s value proposition

  • Grow awareness of Kontor within the scaleup community, mainly in the UK, but also in Europe and the US

  • You will be up-to-date on industry developments and know when our target companies raise funds, hire employees or expand internationally

  • You will participate in scaleup community events to identify potential clients and build personal relationships in the community

  • Identify ideal customer profiles and establish & maintain relationships with several stakeholders, at different levels of the organisation

  • Given the long buying-cycles of office moves, you will maintain relationships over an extended period of time and be abreast of the company’s office portfolio and key dates

  • You will check in with clients regularly, virtually, as well as in person and find new ways to add value 

  • You will be instrumental in coming up with new initiatives in how to identify and approach targets that are in line with company values

  • You work hand-in-hand with the sales team to provide the customer with a seamless customer experience, from activation, all the way to handing it over to the sales team

  • You will be the first full-time BDM employee, motivated to mould the BDM function and eventually build out the BDM team

  • You will shape the BD operations and influence best metrics to track, as well as deliver data-driven reviews to senior management about the progress of the programme

  • Although you will not transact yourself, you will build and maintain a deep understanding of the different office options available and the sales teams’ functions

SKILLS:

  • You have great interpersonal skills, are empathetic and able to quickly build a strong rapport

  • You have experience in cold outreach, such as cold calling and emailing, and a proven track record of a healthy conversion to warm opportunities 

  • You enjoy networking and always promote an image of professionalism

  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • You have a strong bias towards excellent customer service

  • You have great organisational and multitasking skills 

  • You are able to work independently, with limited resources

  • You are a team player, and get along well with a range of people, both internally and externally

  • You have great attention to detail 

  • You are a problem-solver and find creative ways to navigate potential road blocks

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You are a positive, energetic person, that loves customer and relationship management and you are excited to become the advisor of customers

  • You have previous experience in B2B business development, account management or customer service, preferably in a SaaS-based business or real estate industry

  • A plus is previous experience with startups and high growth businesses, knowing their typical pain points and struggles that they’ll encounter

  • You will have an in-depth understanding of startups and are able to have a close relationship with the sales team at Kontor 

  • You are self-motivated, a self-started that is comfortable working with little supervision 

  • A passion to learn all about the world of offices and the future of work

  • Strong work ethic, integrity and desire to succeed

  • Able to adapt to technologies and software, proficient in basic Office programmes (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

THE PERKS WE PROVIDE: 

  • This role will be based in our office in Shoreditch, London. We have adopted an office first policy, but you will have flexibility if you want to work elsewhere a few days a week. With the nature of the role, you will have a lot of client interactions IRL, but it means you will be on the move a lot and can work from wherever suits you best.
